Who I Am

My name is Katie Vernoy and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a practice in Torrance, CA (Katharine Vernoy, CA LMFT42604, AZ LMFT15931, FL TPMF977). I provide individual therapy in my office as well as through an online platform, so I can support entrepreneurs, leaders, and helping professionals throughout California, Arizona, and Florida to create careers that are both meaningful AND sustainable.

As an executive, entrepreneur, and helping professional myself, I've navigated the same ups and downs that you have. I've run my own businesses, designed innovative programs, built and managed large, thriving teams, and stepped into leadership as a State Board member for my professional organization. I know how isolating it can feel as a leader and an entrepreneur. I know how hard it can be to weather seasonal fluctuations or changes in your market. I know that self-doubt or burnout can stop you in your tracks. And I also know how amazing it is to be able to pursue your life's mission and be your own boss.

Who I Work With

You're motivated to improve your life and I bet you've tried many different things to feel better. You've probably reached out to a number of specialists and coaches. You might've even tried therapy before.

When you know what to do and it isn't working, it's time to look deeper.

Maybe you haven't found someone who truly understands and accepts you. Maybe you haven't found someone who can keep up with you. Maybe you've never felt comfortable disclosing who you really are, or are embarrassed to share some of the life events and traumas that have really impacted you.

You're ready for change, but just need to find that right match.

So, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I love working with people who have complex, complicated pasts. We are indeed shaped by all that has happened to us. However, when we assess what happened and truly understand it (with a new, more informed perspective), we can choose how we want to move forward.

I love supporting people with a big vision for the future. So often, life changing events can propel us toward helping others and making the most out of our own lives. As long as we can cope with the uncertainty and self-doubt that too often accompanies these big ideas, we have great opportunity to make an impact in the world.

I love supporting my clients in honing their mindset, so they can approach work and life more effectively. When you don't address your blind spots, you can find yourself burned out, unable to leave your clients' concerns at the office, and having difficulty caring for pretty much anything. I find these conditions - compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and what I call Sacrificial Helping Syndrome (giving more than you have to the people you serve) - in a lot of professionals who help others.

How I Work

In my first sessions, I work to truly understand your situation, all of the context, and how you've been impacted by the events and traumas in your life. We will then work collaboratively to identify your goals and set up your unique treatment plan. I can be direct and provide you with feedback OR I can sit back and provide you support in your own problem-solving. It really depends on what works best for you. I want to make sure that what I'm doing is helpful to you, so from the beginning, I'm going ask you to let me know what's working and what isn't.

The Logistics

I typically meet with clients once a week for 50-minute sessions. We can meet in person at my office in Torrance, CA, or we can schedule through my video therapy platform if you are California (CA LMFT 42604), Arizona (AZ LMFT 15931), or Florida (registered telehealth provider TPMF977). Unfortunately, at this time, I'm not able to provide therapy for individuals in other states.

If you'd like to learn about the career and business coaching that I do throughout the United States and abroad, please check out my coaching website.

You can pay privately for your sessions or we can bill your insurance company directly for out of network benefits. If you'd like to inquire about fees and insurance information, please don't hesitate to schedule a free consultation.

Make An Appointment

For current clients, please access the Client Portal for scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling appointments.

For new clients, I've set aside time on my calendar for a free initial consultation. I want to make sure that I'm the right person to support you in taking your next steps.

Please note: If we decide during this initial call that you will begin services with me, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Please don't hesitate to schedule time for this complimentary initial call:
